So, yes, I know from experience. It seems as though J's got a caring father. That's a mark in her favor, but she still needs good role models, especially good women role models. You may be just what she needs, just when she needs it. There are always going to be people who are "better" or "worse" off than we are - that doesn't mean that we should always aspire to more or feel guilty for what we have. It's a fine line to walk, indeed, but I think it's important to remember that we need to live OUR lives and not compare them to everyone else's. Now, that DOESN'T mean that I don't think that kindness and generosity and sensitivity are important. The time you're spending with J is VITAL to her - ask me how I know - and you're giving back to her just by being there. Don't ever discount that....
